Rules and Regulations

1. Categories

 

This competition is open to three categories:

Inventor / Innovator

Open to staff from higher education institutions including private and public universities, polytechnics, community colleges, nursing and dental colleges, SME industries and staff international participants.

 

Young Inventor / Innovator

Open to students from all higher education institutions including private and public universities, polytechnics and industrial learning colleges, IKM MARA, nursing and dental colleges and student international participants. The project leader and presenter must be a student. All projects submitted require ONLY ONE supervisor/lecturer. Student’s identification card is required upon registration through an online registration system.

 

Junior Inventor / Innovator

Open to school students (age 17 and below) from government and private schools including MRSM and Vocational Colleges. The project leader and presenter must be a student. All projects submitted require ONLY ONE supervisor/lecturer. Student’s identification card is required upon registration through an online registration system.

2 Eligibility
 

  • Participants maybe individual or group.

  • There is no maximum number of group member. However, the registration package is only for one participant. Other group members who would like to come to give support will need to register as accompanying person  and will be entitled to lanyard, door gift, and  food. The team leader will receive up to 5 copies of project certificates with the registration pack.
    Additional certs can be purchased for MYR 10. 
    All applications must be original work of the person / group.

  • Individual or group participants may submit more than one entry. Each entry will have to pay individual registration fee.

  • Adaptation of improving existing innovations /products can be accepted as long as the improvement is totally new.

  • The abstract must be submitted by 15th March 2020.

  • Submission is valid once the registration payment has been made.

3. Presentation:
 

  • Each participant will present their innovation in an oral presentation of up to 10 minutes for presentation and a Q & A session of 5 minutes.

  • Presentation will be in English except for JUNIOR category, Malay Language and/or English is acceptable.

  • Participants can refer to the bunting for their presentation, as a poster board will not be provided.



4 General Guidelines
 

  • One (1) table and two (2) chairs will be provided.

  • Participants are advised to be present at respective booth throughout the event.

  • Please prepare a bunting presentation with your own stand. See details on bunting preparation guidelines.

  • Participants are also encouraged to display a model, prototype, sample or lap-top presentation related to the invention/innovation/design.

  • All evidences such as patent application letter, papers, journals, etc. are to be presented to the judges.

  • Participants are responsible to obtain Intellectual Property (IP) protection for their product where applicable.
